Our Story

SheaMoisture is the legacy of Sofi Tucker, a pioneering mother of four and entrepreneur, who sold Shea Butter, African Black Soap and homemade beauty preparations in Sierra Leone in 1912. We honor her vision by continuing to formulate with Raw Shea Butter handcrafted by women in Africa.

Traditional African Black Soap, made from various oils, palm ash, and plantain peel, has been used in Africa for centuries. Our African Black Soap formula combines cocoa pod ash, coconut oil, and shea butter. Should be used daily to help balance troubled skin.

Tested on our family for four generations. Never on animals.

SheaMoisture’s African Black Soap should be used daily to balance and resolve problem skin.
